Foyle, previously the global brand president of lingerie and lifestyle brand Aerie, will now oversee merchandising, design, and marketing for the American Eagle brand. Reporting to Jay Schottenstein, executive chairman of the board and CEO, Foyle expressed enthusiasm about working with the team to build on American Eagle’s strengths and drive further growth. With over 26 years of experience in the apparel retail industry, Foyle brings a wealth of leadership expertise to her new role. She has held positions at esteemed companies such as Calypso St. Barth and J.Crew. During her tenure as the global brand president of Aerie, Foyle spearheaded the #AerieReal campaign, which focused on inclusivity and body positivity. Under her guidance, the brand achieved impressive annual revenue of nearly $800 million in 2019.

Jay Schottenstein commended Foyle as a strategic visionary for brands and credited her for the tremendous success of Aerie, which has experienced quadruple sales and profits over the past five years. He praised Foyle’s passion, innovative thinking, and ability to connect with customers through product and marketing.

In its recent second-quarter results, American Eagle noted a strong performance in its online business, particularly for the Aerie brand. While overall net revenue decreased by 15% compared to the same period last year, digital demand grew by an impressive 48%. Aerie saw a significant revenue increase of 113%, while the American Eagle brand experienced a decline of 26%.

Despite the challenges posed by the current crisis, the CEO of American Eagle commended the team’s agility, talent, and dedication. Aerie’s exceptional performance, with a 32% increase in revenue and record margins, demonstrates its strong brand power and growth potential. The company also successfully reopened stores during the quarter.
