Colorful Standard, a Danish clothing label founded by Tue Deleuran in 2018, has sold a 49% stake in the company to the Sustainable Impact Fund (SIF) of Dutch bank ABN Amro. The primary goal of this partnership is to accelerate Colorful Standard’s international expansion. This move comes as the brand has gained significant popularity among independent retailers for its essentials range, featuring garments available in an impressive range of 50 different colors. One of Colorful Standard’s key selling points is its commitment to using environmentally friendly materials and producing its pieces in Europe. Since its launch, the brand claims to have achieved an impressive annual growth rate of 100%.

While the exact value of SIF’s investment has not been disclosed, sources suggest it exceeds €10 million. This marks SIF’s first foray into the fashion industry and is aligned with their overarching mission to support sustainable companies in sectors such as renewable energy, social affairs, and circular economy. Frederik Deutman, the managing director of SIF, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Colorful Standard, emphasizing the brand’s potential as a catalyst for change and praising their portfolio of exceptional products and dedication to sustainability.

Tue Deleuran, the founder of Colorful Standard, brings extensive experience in the retail and fashion industry, having previously worked with renowned brands like Björkvin. In 2008, he co-founded the RTG Textiles group, which played a significant role in connecting Scandinavian labels with the Portuguese textile industry. Notably, Colorful Standard produces its clothing at the same factory as RTG Textiles, renowned for its ethical practices.

Beyond their core range of t-shirts, sweatshirts, and joggers, Colorful Standard has expanded its assortment to include sunglasses and a yoga apparel line to cater to a broader customer base. The brand currently operates eight monobrand stores and distributes its products through over 1,000 multibrand retailers across Europe.

With the backing of their new partner, Colorful Standard has ambitious plans to continue its international expansion. The brand sees substantial growth opportunities in Germany, Spain, and North America, specifically targeting the Canadian market and potentially venturing into the United States. Tue Deleuran, the visionary behind Colorful Standard, dreams of revolutionizing the global fashion industry.

To drive this ambitious project forward, Colorful Standard recently appointed Tommaso Brusò as the new CEO. Brusò brings a wealth of experience in the fashion industry, having held leadership positions at renowned companies such as Kiabi Italy, Benetton Group, Diesel, and Furla. His expertise in group management and international business will play a crucial role in Colorful Standard’s upcoming expansion plans.
