Ermenegildo Zegna has recently appointed Lelio Gavazza as the new CEO of Tom Ford Fashion. This decision comes after Zegna acquired Tom Ford’s fashion business from Estée Lauder last year. The appointment of Gavazza was highly anticipated, following the announcement of Peter Hawkings as the creative director and Guillaume Jesel as the President and CEO of Tom Ford back in April.

Gavazza’s official start date is set for September 18th, and he will report directly to Gildo Zegna, the Chairman and CEO of Zegna Group. As part of the senior management team, Gavazza will oversee various aspects of the Tom Ford Fashion business, including collection development, merchandising, production, and retail and wholesale distribution. With over two decades of experience in the luxury industry, Gavazza brings valuable expertise to this role. He currently serves as the Executive Vice-President of Sales and Retail at Bulgari, a position he held within LVMH. Throughout his career, Gavazza has held significant leadership roles in different regions, such as Managing Director of Greater China and Managing Director of Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Gavazza’s appointment aligns with Zegna’s objective of positioning Tom Ford as a prominent global fashion brand beyond its core US market. Gildo Zegna commended Gavazza’s track record of strong leadership and luxury expertise, particularly in areas such as retail management, wholesale distribution, marketing, and digital. Gavazza’s knowledge of important markets such as China is also seen as an asset. Collaboration between Gavazza and Guillaume Jesel will be crucial in ensuring the fashion business aligns with Tom Ford’s overall luxury strategy. Jesel expressed enthusiasm about working with Gildo Zegna, Lelio Gavazza, and their respective teams to elevate Tom Ford Fashion to new heights in the global luxury industry.
