French beauty group Bogart experienced a significant increase in sales during the first nine months of fiscal year 2022, with revenue reaching €198.4 million, a rise of 22.7%. This growth is particularly impressive considering it was 5.7% on a comparable basis and at constant exchange rates.

The success can be attributed, in part, to Bogart’s fragrances and cosmetics division, which includes popular brands like Jacques Bogart and Méthode Jeanne Piaubert. This division generated a revenue of €37.1 million during the period, reflecting a remarkable 34.9% increase from the previous year (or 30.9% when accounting for constant exchange rates).

Bogart’s success was also evident in Western Europe, North America, and the Middle East during the third quarter, where the business remained strong. However, the regions of Russia and Eastern Europe faced challenges that affected their performance.

The beauty retail division, which includes the selective perfumery retailer April, also contributed to the overall growth. The division expanded its store network by incorporating 38 Nocibé perfumeries in France and 70 stores operated by the Fann perfumery chain in Slovakia. As a result, the division’s revenue reached €161.3 million, representing a 20.2% increase. However, when accounting for a comparable basis and constant exchange rates, the growth stood at 0.6%.

Despite the positive results, Bogart remains cautious about its fourth-quarter outlook. In the third quarter, the organic sales generated by its retail network experienced a decline of 6%. However, Bogart highlighted that the fourth quarter typically has a greater impact on revenue and profitability for the beauty retail division due to the year-end festivities and planned new launches from its flagship brands.

Looking ahead, Bogart plans to launch new fragrances for its leading brands, including Carven, Jacques Bogart, and Ted Lapidus. These new launches are expected to contribute to the growth of the Fragrances and Cosmetics division in the fourth quarter.

Overall, Bogart’s strong sales performance in the first nine months of fiscal year 2022 highlights the company’s ability to navigate challenges and seize growth opportunities. With a focus on expanding its store network and introducing new products, Bogart is well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory in the beauty industry.
