French fashion house Givenchy has recently announced its decision to change its eyewear manufacturer from Safilo to Thélios. Thélios is a joint-venture company created by LVMH and Italian manufacturer Marcolin in 2017. Since its establishment, Thélios has taken over the licenses for prestigious brands such as Celine and Dior. Givenchy’s move to Thélios follows a similar decision made by another LVMH-owned label, Fendi.

The partnership between Givenchy and Thélios will involve various aspects, including the design, development, production, and exclusive worldwide distribution of Givenchy Eyewear starting from January 1, 2022. This collaboration will enable Givenchy to bring the ambitious vision of its creative director, Matthew M. Williams, to life and create innovative eyewear products.

The first collection of Givenchy Eyewear under the Thélios partnership is expected to be available for purchase from early 2022. Customers will be able to find the collection at Givenchy stores, the brand’s online shop, and select retailers and opticians worldwide. Givenchy’s headquarters in Paris will closely oversee the collaboration with Thélios to ensure a successful launch.

Thélios, strategically established by LVMH, has rapidly expanded its portfolio by securing contracts for eyewear collections from esteemed brands such as Dior, Celine, and Fendi. On the other hand, Safilo has experienced a reduction in its agreements with LVMH-owned labels and now only holds the eyewear license for Marc Jacobs until 2026.

Besides Givenchy, Thélios manages the eyewear collections of other LVMH labels, including Loewe, Stella McCartney, Kenzo, Fred, Berluti, and Rimowa. Thélios also has its own brand called 9.81.

Givenchy’s decision to switch to Thélios demonstrates the brand’s confidence in the joint-venture company’s ability to deliver high-quality and innovative eyewear products. This transition will provide Givenchy with greater control and flexibility in developing and distributing its eyewear collections, ensuring they align with the brand’s overall vision and aesthetic. Through this strategic partnership, Givenchy intends to strengthen its position in the luxury eyewear market and meet the evolving demands of its discerning clientele.
