Haut.AI, an innovative artificial intelligence startup operating within the beauty industry, has successfully raised €2 million in its inaugural external funding round. This substantial investment has been provided by LongeVC, a prominent venture capital firm specializing in biotechnology and longevity, in addition to the venture capital branch of Grupo Boticário shareholders.
Headquartered in Estonia, Haut.AI is committed to pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence applications in the domains of skin, hair, and wellness analytics. The infusion of capital will play a pivotal role in enabling Haut.AI to expand and elevate its personalized skin care e-commerce software, as well as its multimodal generative AI technology for skin analysis.
Collaborating closely with research and development teams specializing in skincare in Germany and Switzerland, Haut.AI has earned a stellar reputation through its pioneering contributions to the field of skincare AI. The company boasts an impressive track record, including the publication of research papers and the development of software solutions that are currently harnessed by over 100 skincare research and development centers and retailers across the globe. Esteemed partners such as Beiersdorf and Ulta Beauty have also recognized the potential of Haut.AI’s capabilities and have engaged in strategic collaborations with the company.
One of Haut.AI’s most remarkable accomplishments is its extensive and diverse skin imaging dataset. This dataset encompasses a staggering 150-plus biomarkers, comprises over 3 million images, and incorporates an astonishing one billion data points, which also include synthetic data. This data richness has been instrumental in facilitating the creation of AI-driven skincare intelligence that prides itself on its fairness and impartiality.
Haut.AI has been a trailblazer in deploying a variety of generative AI techniques, with a history dating back to 2016. This expertise has positioned the company as a leading authority in generating high-quality synthetic data for training and experimentation.
In a groundbreaking development in May, Haut.AI unveiled SkinGPT, a revolutionary virtual skincare try-on tool. SkinGPT empowers users to simulate various skin conditions based on clinical claims, providing highly realistic depictions of potential improvements, such as a 5 percent reduction in hyperpigmentation. This technology is designed to benefit not only individuals with existing skincare concerns but also inspire those without issues to adopt effective skincare routines.
In the earlier part of 2023, Haut.AI became a member of the Pegasus Program, a Microsoft initiative dedicated to providing support to innovative startups.
Anastasia Georgievskaya, co-founder and CEO of Haut.AI, emphasized the company’s mission, stating, “At Haut.AI, we’re not simply enhancing the skincare shopping experience with generative AI; we’re redefining it. Through cutting-edge AI, we’ve transformed the act of taking a selfie into a highly interactive experience for online businesses. This includes a powerful diagnostic tool followed by a personalized product discovery journey. Our commitment extends beyond offering personalized skincare recommendations; we’re democratizing access to precise skincare analysis. Our goal is to enable our partners to cater to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or location. We envision a world where skincare is not guesswork but a data-driven experience that benefits brands by increasing sales and customers who receive better value for their money.”
Garri Zmudze, a managing partner at LongeVC, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “Haut.AI’s cutting-edge technology will be the foundation for the next generation of skin health, encompassing early detection, diagnostics, and personalized care. As they continue to advance, we anticipate groundbreaking solutions that address real skincare challenges. Anastasia and her team are trailblazers in leveraging artificial intelligence for skincare, making it accessible to a global audience through partnerships with major retailers and brands.”
Paulo Braga, the director of corporate ventures at Grupo Boticário’s VC arm, noted, “In Haut.AI, we see not only a startup but the future of skin wellness. Anastasia and her team possess a compelling vision and the technological prowess to support it. The current online cosmetics shopping experience mirrors that of buying electronics or books, but there is still a long way to go in achieving true equality in the customer journey.”
