Norwegian fashion and lifestyle brand Holzweiler has received a significant investment from Sequoia Capital China, marking its first-ever external funding. The partnership aims to expand Holzweiler’s already popular and influential appeal worldwide. With Carnegie Investment Banking’s support, the collaboration will focus on enhancing the brand’s creative vision, physical retail experiences, and design collaborations.

Currently, Holzweiler operates six physical stores, an e-commerce business, an international wholesale network, and a fine-dining restaurant in Oslo. The brand has seen incredible success in its outerwear and knitwear categories, leading to impressive revenue growth of almost 60% CAGR over the past three years. With the support of Sequoia China, Holzweiler plans to further accelerate its direct-to-consumer business, with a particular focus on expanding into China, the US, and the UK markets.

To strengthen its global presence, Holzweiler has exciting plans for expansion. In October, the brand will open a flagship store in Copenhagen, followed by its first location in London next spring. Founded by siblings Andreas and Susanne Holzweiler in 2012, the brand has always championed a conscious approach to fashion, material innovation, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. Collaborations with artists, musicians, architects, and poets are an important part of Holzweiler’s identity and offerings.

Holzweiler’s dedication to the arts is evident in its partnerships with institutions like the Munch Museum, collaborations showcased during Paris Fashion Week, pop-ups with the vegan movement Wild & The Moon, and a collaboration with Colette for the legendary store’s closing event in Paris. The brand also has a longstanding relationship with renowned architects Snøhetta.

The Holzweiler team, including CEO Andreas, CCO Susanne, and creative director Maria, expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership with Sequoia China. They believe it signifies a new chapter for the brand and are proud to collaborate with a team that shares their vision of sustainable growth. Angelica Cheung, Venture Partner at Sequoia Capital China, praised Holzweiler for its quality, design, and modern lifestyle approach. With a belief in the brand’s potential for global expansion, Sequoia China is committed to providing the necessary resources and support.

As Holzweiler prepares for its most ambitious runway show at Copenhagen Fashion Week, the partnership with Sequoia Capital China propels the brand towards a future defined by artfulness, ambition, and global growth.
