In a unique partnership, Hublot, known for its recent collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, has joined forces with Nespresso to create a remarkable sustainable luxury offering.

Nespresso, a certified B Corp since last year, launched the Nespresso Second Life program a few years ago, which focuses on repurposing used coffee capsules to create new partner products. Building on this initiative, the result is the extraordinary Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origins timepiece.

The 42mm case of this watch is entirely crafted from recycled aluminum, with an impressive 28% sourced from Nespresso capsules. These same capsules also find their way into the composition of the bezel, crown, and pushers of the watch, showcasing a commitment to circularity.

An equally innovative aspect of the Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origins is its strap. Created through a collaboration with SingTex, the strap is made from 95% recycled polyester and 5% residual coffee grounds, introducing a fabric known as Scafé. This marks the first-ever application of this technology in watch strap creation. The rubber version of the strap incorporates over 4% coffee grounds, adding a unique touch to the design.

Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, explains the extensive research and development that went into achieving color uniformity among the seven materials used in the watch, determining the appropriate material ratios, and conducting rigorous quality and durability tests on all components.

The captivating green color of the timepiece, symbolizing sustainability, is a tribute to the shade of the Master Origins Peru Organic coffee capsule.

Alongside the launch of the limited edition Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origins, Hublot introduces the Greenbox, a new packaging solution crafted from oak wood. Designed with traceable materials from local sources, this box features co-branded markings that incorporate upcycled coffee grounds. Its versatility allows for reuse, thanks to a removable interior.

In addition to the collaboration with Nespresso, Hublot recognizes the growing importance of eco-responsibility for luxury consumers. As a result, the Greenbox will become a standard packaging solution for all future watch collections by Hublot, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to sustainability.
