German fashion brand Hugo Boss has announced an investment in Collateral Good Ventures Fashion I, a venture capital fund focused on promoting sustainability in the fashion industry. As the first company to invest in the Luxembourg-based fund, Hugo Boss is reinforcing its commitment to a more sustainable future. The fund aims to raise €100 million, with Hugo Boss expected to contribute 10% of that total.

The fund, operating under the name Collateral Good Ventures Fashion I SCSp RAIF, has already attracted interest from various investors, including family offices, asset managers, and institutional investors. While the exact amount of Hugo Boss’s initial investment has not been disclosed, it is anticipated that the funds will be used to support start-ups and early-stage companies dedicated to developing innovative sustainability solutions and technologies for the fashion industry.

The portfolio companies supported by the fund will focus on various areas within the fashion industry’s value and supply chain. This includes initiatives such as upcycling raw materials, preventing microfibre releases, and promoting repair and care solutions. Hugo Boss CEO, Daniel Grieder, emphasized that this investment aligns with the company’s sustainability strategy, “For a bold and better future,” which aims to create a waste and pollution-free planet. Grieder stated that the collaboration with Collateral Good Ventures will allow Hugo Boss to explore new solutions to address important sustainability issues, including increasing circularity, using nature-positive materials, eliminating microplastic pollution, and achieving zero emissions.

By investing in Collateral Good Ventures Fashion I, Hugo Boss is demonstrating its dedication to driving sustainable practices within the fashion industry. The company recognizes the need for industry-wide change and hopes that this venture capital fund will support and accelerate the development of innovative and sustainable solutions that will benefit the entire fashion industry.
