Kanye West, the renowned musician and fashion mogul, is set to make a bold move into the beauty industry with his Yeezy empire. Recent reports reveal that West has filed a trademark application for an extensive range of beauty and skincare products. The list of items includes makeup, false eyelashes, facial masks, nail polish, moisturizers, bath gels, body oils, shaving cream, hair care products, perfumes, toothpaste, deodorant, scented pine cones, and aromatherapy pillows.
This new venture by West sees him following in the footsteps of his wife, Kim Kardashian, and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Kim has already seen great success with her beauty line, KKW Beauty, while Kylie Jenner has created a sensation with her popular brand, Kylie Cosmetics. Interestingly, West had previously hinted at a beauty line in 2017 when his team filed legal documents to launch makeup and fragrance products under the name ‘Donda’, in honor of his late mother. However, nothing came to fruition at that time.
Yeezy, the label created in collaboration with Adidas, has primarily been known for its fashion and apparel offerings. Originally launched with Nike in 2009, the brand made a shift to Adidas in 2013. Yeezy quickly gained immense popularity, particularly with its footwear collection, which often commands prices exceeding $200 per pair. In fact, it is reported that Yeezy raked in an impressive $1.5 billion in sales last year alone, cementing its position as a successful player in the industry.
In April, Forbes officially declared West as a billionaire, with much of his wealth attributed to the success of his basketball shoes, created in partnership with Adidas. Now, with the potential expansion into the beauty market, West aims to further solidify his presence in the industry. Fans and consumers eagerly anticipate any official launch of beauty products under the Yeezy brand. Only time will reveal whether West’s entry into the beauty world will achieve the same level of success as his ventures in music and fashion.
