Paris Fashion Week kicked off in extraordinary style with Pharrell Williams’ highly anticipated Louis Vuitton show. On January 16, the multi-talented creative director for Louis Vuitton’s men’s collections decided to make a statement by choosing the picturesque Jardin d’Acclimatation, nestled at the base of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, as his stage. This marked his third collection unveiling for the luxury powerhouse LVMH, following his memorable show on the Pont Neuf last June and a more recent one in Hong Kong.

Pharrell Williams, hailing from the state of Virginia, delved deep into his American roots for this men’s autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection, seamlessly blending them with the rugged charm of the Wild West and a strong emphasis on workwear. The result was an imaginative and culturally rich fashion journey, elevated by the timeless craftsmanship of Louis Vuitton. Here’s an in-depth look at this remarkable show.

Exploring Louis Vuitton’s Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 Show: Pharrell’s Wild West

Creating the Wild West Ambience

Pharrell ingeniously recreated the vast landscapes of the American Wild West through the use of giant screens projecting endless desert vistas. The enigmatic invitation sent out a few days prior had already hinted at the collection’s theme, featuring a Louis Vuitton-branded harmonica as a tantalizing clue. To accompany the visual spectacle, Pharrell collaborated with “Native Voices of Resistance,” a group of Native American singers. Their performance was a harmonious fusion of traditional chants interwoven with contemporary tracks, including Pharrell’s own compositions and songs from acclaimed artists such as Miley Cyrus and Mumford & Sons.

Louis Vuitton’s Cowboy Couture

Pharrell’s latest collection pays homage to the classic cowboy attire, seamlessly intertwining it with Louis Vuitton’s rich heritage. Key pieces from the collection included gracefully flared denim trousers, Trucker jackets meticulously embroidered in leather or cotton, shirts reminiscent of iconic Hollywood westerns, and double-breasted sheriff-style suits. The ensemble was completed with essential cowboy accessories, including boots and hats, all presented in earthy, warm hues such as rich brown and deep burgundy.

A Nod to Workwear

Pharrell Williams’ creative vision also drew inspiration from the realm of workwear. This fashion trend, which involves incorporating elements of work uniforms into everyday clothing, became a defining theme of the collection. Throughout the 81 thoughtfully crafted silhouettes, utilitarian jackets with workwear influences took center stage. They appeared in various iterations, including short, sleeveless, quilted, long, and padded styles. Another standout element was the collaboration with Timberland, resulting in a fresh reinterpretation of their iconic cult model, embellished with the distinctive LV monogram print. These pieces effortlessly merge into everyday wardrobes, elevated by the exquisite craftsmanship synonymous with Louis Vuitton.

An Unforgettable Surprise Performance

Since his inaugural show on the Pont Neuf, where he surprised the audience with an unforgettable Jay-Z showcase, Pharrell Williams has made it a tradition to conclude his events with an exclusive after-party, known exclusively to Louis Vuitton. This time, the American folk sensation Mumford & Sons took the stage, treating the audience to an electrifying performance that included the debut of “Good People,” an exclusive track co-created with Pharrell.

Pharrell Williams, once again, demonstrated his exceptional ability to blend diverse cultural influences into an unforgettable fashion experience. His Louis Vuitton autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection seamlessly merged the rugged spirit of the Wild West with the refinement of Louis Vuitton craftsmanship, making a powerful statement at the heart of Paris Fashion Week.
