La Redoute, the popular French platform, is expanding its global operations by venturing into the Italian market. Previously, the company operated solely from France, but it has now decided to establish a subsidiary in Italy to strengthen its presence in the country. To spearhead this expansion, La Redoute has appointed Loredana Fartade as the director of the Italian market and will be opening offices in Milan.

Loredana Fartade, a graduate of Milan’s prestigious Bocconi University in International Economics and Management, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has previously worked for renowned brands such as Christian Dior, Veepee, and home furnishings e-tailer Aosom. In a statement, Fartade expressed La Redoute’s commitment to being closer to their customers and understanding their needs, as customer satisfaction remains one of the company’s core values. The initial focus of the Italian market will be on home and decoration products, rather than ready-to-wear fashion. At present, the Italian subsidiary comprises a team of six employees.

In the coming months, La Redoute Italy plans to undertake new development projects, which may involve expanding their marketplace and establishing a physical presence by opening pop-up stores and shops. International sales already account for over 35% of La Redoute’s total revenue, compared to 30% in 2020, showcasing impressive growth. Philippe Berlan, the managing director of La Redoute since last year, is confident in the success of their international expansion strategy. He states, “Our international development model has proven successful. With the establishment of our new subsidiary, we will accelerate our growth even further.”

La Redoute already has subsidiaries in Belgium, the UK, Switzerland, Portugal, and Spain, and the addition of Italy positions the company as a key player in the global e-commerce market. By catering to the diverse needs and preferences of consumers across different markets, La Redoute is poised to thrive in the increasingly competitive e-commerce landscape.
