L’Occitane Group experienced a significant increase in operating income during the first half of fiscal year 2022-23, which ended on September 30. The beauty and cosmetics group, renowned for its brands L’Occitane en Provence and Melvita, reported an operating income of €87 million during this period. Moreover, the company’s net profits for the first half reached €63.9 million, representing a 5.4% increase.

This impressive performance can be attributed to the acquisition of two new beauty brands by L’Occitane: Sol de Janeiro and Grown Alchemist. In November 2021, the company acquired Sol de Janeiro, which generated sales of €94.6 million. Additionally, the Australian brand Grown Alchemist, purchased in March 2022, has been flourishing within L’Occitane’s “other brands” division along with Melvita and Erborian. This division recorded a revenue increase of 4.9% to €90.5 million.

The flagship brand of the group, L’Occitane en Provence, also played a significant role in these positive results, with sales amounting to €610.3 million, showing a growth of 3.4% in the first half of fiscal year 2022-23. Overall, the group achieved total sales of €900.5 million in this period, compared to €696.4 million in the same period the previous year.

In addition to its financial success, L’Occitane has unveiled a new mission statement that centers around empowering individuals and regenerating nature. The company aims to establish itself as a multi-brand group with a consistent global presence. To accomplish this, L’Occitane has initiated several projects, particularly focusing on its smaller brands.

An example of such initiatives is the opening of a Melvita pop-up store in a shopping mall in Malaysia. This store offers a French tea room ambiance and provides customers with personalized skincare advice. Additionally, customers have the opportunity to leave with a grocery-style shopping bag filled with Melvita products.

Continuing its expansion and innovation, L’Occitane Group remains committed to positively impacting people and the environment. With its strong financial performance and strategic initiatives, the company is poised for future growth and success in the beauty and cosmetics industry.
