Luxury footwear brand Charles Jourdan is making a much-anticipated comeback, led by artistic director Christelle Kocher. After being acquired by Groupe Royer in 2008, the French shoemaker will relaunch in the fall of 2022 with a renewed focus on attracting a younger generation of sophisticated customers. Kocher, known for her work with fashion label Koché and French house Lemarié—owned by Chanel—has been selected to revive the brand.

Kocher is thrilled to awaken what she describes as a “sleeping beauty,” breathing new life into Charles Jourdan’s rich history, heritage, and lineage through a modern, contemporary, and creative approach. As a sneak peek of her vision, she has created a capsule collection that will be unveiled during the Koché runway show on March 1. The first models from the Fall/Winter 2022 collection are set to be available in June.

Announced on the brand’s Instagram account, the relaunch of Charles Jourdan features a revamped logo with a 70s-inspired aesthetic. The unique emblem combines the letters C and J, symbolizing the brand’s revival and evolution. This isn’t the first time Charles Jourdan has attempted a comeback; in 2017, they opened a flagship store in Paris that has since closed, and a previous relaunch in 2010 was put on hold in 2013.

With the addition of Christelle Kocher as artistic director, Charles Jourdan is determined to make a resounding impact in the luxury footwear market. By focusing on creativity and modernity, the brand hopes to capture the attention of a younger audience who appreciates fashion. The forthcoming Fall/Winter 2022 collection is highly anticipated, as fashion enthusiasts eagerly await how Charles Jourdan’s revitalization will manifest under Kocher’s artistic vision.
