Mamas & Papas, the largest nursery brand on the UK high street, is set to achieve record-breaking results for the year, following a successful Christmas trading period. In the 13 weeks leading up to December 31, 2023, the company reported a 17% increase in sales, with an impressive performance during Black Friday. In addition, underlying profits on an EBITDA basis experienced a significant improvement of 50% compared to the previous year.

The company attributes its success to several factors, including the expansion of its network of UK stores and concessions, as well as a surge in online sales. During the three-week Black Friday period, Mamas & Papas witnessed an 18% increase in sales, providing substantial momentum for the crucial Christmas season. Notably, both the company’s digital business and physical stores achieved record-breaking sales in the key trading week.

Mamas & Papas offers a wide range of baby and toddler products, including clothing. The company’s expanding network of stores and concessions in the UK played a significant role in surpassing sales expectations. Online sales also experienced a notable boost of 20% during the period. Currently, the company has 34 concessions with retail partners Next and M&S in the UK, as well as Arnotts in Ireland. Furthermore, it successfully launched its concept with retailers in targeted overseas markets, such as El Corte Ingles in Spain. Looking ahead, Mamas & Papas plans to open additional locations in 2024, including partnerships with MAP Active in Indonesia and Central Department Store Group in Thailand.

With its outstanding performance during the Christmas period, Mamas & Papas anticipates achieving record-breaking turnover and full-year profits for the fiscal year ending in March. CEO Nathan Williams expressed optimism about the future, emphasizing that the company’s investment in the brand and business has paid off. Moving forward, Mamas & Papas aims to maintain momentum by expanding its presence both domestically and internationally as a leading player in the nursery and baby products category. The company takes pride in its purpose-led platform, which advocates for parents and the planet.
