Prada’s Fall/Winter 2022 Womenswear show is dedicated to modeling and Prada’s history of women. From the minds of Co-Creative Directors Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada, the show commemorates life and living, shedding light on the importance of appreciating each and every moment. The show featured a casting of heavyweight supermodels including: Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Anok Yai, and Chu Wong among other iconic faces.
The rigor that characterizes the brand is lightened with feathers, transparencies, crystals in a game of contrasts: severe-looking coats with candy pink applications, oversized bomber jackets on slip dresses, longuette with crystals combined with the white tank top. The anti-fashion underwear item par excellence becomes the protagonist of the show, relaunching nineties minimalism in a glamorous version.
The creative collaboration between Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons continues by reworking some of Prada’s cornerstones: clean lines, enveloping coats and lots of black. Prada’s minimalism is expressed in oversized coat-dresses, worn with Mary-Janes and handbags. The dress with voluminous shoulders is definitely Prada’s new trend.
But the real highlight of the collection is the white tank top, worn alone or double. Once a garment to be hidden under clothes, relegated to the beach and domestic intimacy, today it is paired with slit midi skirts with sparkling applications.
From black we move on to notes of color: fuchsia-colored trench coats, colored sweaters worn with a neon-colored turtleneck. Prada also follows the trend of transparencies: skirts are so impalpable as to reveal lingerie.
For the details, we can see that brown continues as the leading color of the year, and the modern Mary Jane pump is the must have shoe for the season.
The catwalk is once again a cluster of stars: the show opened with Kaia Gerber, the model daughter of Cindy Crawford, and closed with Hunter Schafer, transgender model and star of the TV series Euphoria. Among the models there was also Kendall Jenner, with an unprecedented orange hair. Even the front row was crowded with VIP guests: from Chiara Ferragni, who showed off the cult yellow miniskirt from Spring/Summer 2022, to Kim Kardashian, who once again showed off “work” gloves paired with a sage green jumpsuit .
