Saysh, the lifestyle brand co-founded by Olympic athlete Allyson Felix and her brother Wes Felix, has recently secured $8 million in its latest Series A funding round. The investment was led by Athleta, which is owned by Gap Inc., and consumer fund Iris. This funding will enable Saysh to expand its branded e-commerce, wholesale distribution, and community-based retail footprint. Additionally, the investment will support the launch of new activity-specific sneakers and an expanded product offering.

Wes Felix, the CEO of Saysh, expressed his excitement about the brand’s future plans and gratitude towards the partners who recognized Saysh’s potential to shape a better future. He emphasized the brand’s core values of celebrating women and their voices, stating that the funding empowers Saysh to lead in that regard and better understand and meet the needs of their customers.

The mission of Saysh is to achieve gender equality, which is evident in their debut product, the Saysh One. This athletic sneaker is the first of its kind to be built from the ground up for a woman’s foot. In line with their mission, Saysh intentionally sought out funding from woman-owned and woman-led sources for their Series A round. Iris, a consumer fund that focuses on industries where women are the primary consumers, and Athleta, with the support of Gap Inc.’s Strategic Growth Office (SGO), stepped in to lead the funding round. Athleta’s investment also includes a partnership to showcase Saysh’s footwear on Athleta.com, and Gap Inc. now holds an equity stake in Saysh.

The investment from Athleta is a continuation of their partnership with Allyson Felix, who has been a sponsored ambassador for the activewear brand since 2019. Mary Beth Laughton, the president and CEO of Athleta, expressed her pride in supporting Felix as an entrepreneur while also fueling growth for the Athleta brand through the investment in Saysh.

Other investors in the funding round included Redpoint Ventures, a venture capital firm with a 50% women early-stage team, and Springbank Collective, an early-stage investor in infrastructure for working women and their families.

Saysh’s successful funding round and partnership with leading brands like Athleta and Gap Inc. demonstrates the recognition of the brand’s mission to empower women and promote gender equality. With this new injection of capital, Saysh is well-positioned to expand its reach and offer innovative products that cater to the specific needs of women in the athletic and fashion industry.
