California-based footwear company Skechers has recently announced a new collaboration with The Goodyear Rubber & Tire Company. This partnership aims to introduce custom high-performance outsoles to select shoe styles. In 2020, Goodyear Performance Outsoles will be extended across various categories of Skechers footwear.

Initially, Goodyear Performance Outsoles were launched on three running shoes in the GoRun collection. However, they will now be incorporated into a wider range of running and walking footwear. Furthermore, these outsoles will also be expanded into the athletic lifestyle, trail, and work footwear categories, making them accessible for men, women, and children.

The primary objective behind the design of these outsoles is to provide improved grip, stability, and durability. They are manufactured using a special polymer made by Goodyear, which includes sustainable soybean oil. This same material is also utilized in Goodyear’s tires, such as the Assurance WeatherReady and the Eagle Exhilarate.

Christian Jurado, Goodyear’s global director of licensed products, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Goodyear has always worked to create innovative products that provide consumers with high-performance tires, and now we’re using that same ingenuity to enable consumers to wear high-performance shoes.”

Michael Greenberg, the President of Skechers, also expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting that it exemplifies two trusted brands joining forces to create a high-tech product that will truly benefit consumers.

Interested customers can now purchase Skechers shoes featuring Goodyear Performance Outsoles through the Skechers website, as well as in physical stores and select retail partners.
