Biography
Dries Van Noten is a Belgian fashion designer who has been one of the most influential and celebrated designers of our time. Born in Antwerp on May 12, 1958, Van Noten studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He graduated in 1980 and started his career in fashion by launching his eponymous brand.
Van Noten is known for his unique designs which feature a combination of eclectic prints, colors, and textures. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of the “Antwerp Six” fashion movement which emerged in the 1980s. The movement was characterized by avant-garde and experimental designs that challenged traditional fashion norms.
Van Noten’s designs are often inspired by art and culture from around the world. He is known for incorporating traditional textiles and embroideries into his clothing, and for experimenting with layering and proportions. He has been praised for his attention to detail and his ability to create pieces that are both innovative and wearable.
