Biography
Isabel Marant is a French fashion designer known for creating chic, effortless and bohemian-inspired clothing. She was born in 1967 in Paris, France to a German mother and French father. From a young age, she was interested in fashion and attended the Studio Berçot fashion school in Paris after finishing high school.

After completing her studies, Marant launched her eponymous label in 1994. In the beginning, she mostly focused on designing knitwear pieces and accessories, such as belts and jewellery. Her line quickly gained popularity among French trendsetters and celebrities, including French actress Vanessa Paradis.

In 1998, Marant presented her first ready-to-wear collection, which featured the brand’s characteristic relaxed, bohemian style. The collection was a huge success, and she became known for her signature pieces, including skinny jeans, casual but chic boots, and loose-fitting shirts and blouses.

The brand continued to grow in popularity in the early 2000s, and Marant expanded her offerings to include men’s clothing as well as shoes and handbags. In 2010, she collaborated with H&M on a limited-edition collection, which sold out within hours of launching.

Marant’s success continued to grow, with her designs becoming a favourite among fashion editors and celebrities such as Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Gwyneth Paltrow. In 2014, she was awarded the title of Officier de la Légion d’Honneur, one of France’s highest honours, for her contribution to the country’s fashion industry.

Today, Isabel Marant has boutiques in major cities around the world, including Paris, Tokyo, and New York City. The brand remains true to its signature style, and Marant continues to be involved in every aspect of the business, from designing the collections to overseeing production.

In addition to her career in fashion, Marant is also known for her love of music and has worked as a DJ in the past. She is married to French photographer Jérôme Dreyfuss and has a son and daughter.
