Biography
Simon Porte Jacquemus is a French fashion designer who was born on January 16, 1990, in Salon-de-Provence, a small town in southern France. He grew up in a family of farmers and was inspired by his mother’s work clothes and the traditional clothing worn by the women in his hometown.

At the age of 18, Jacquemus moved to Paris to pursue his dream of becoming a fashion designer. He worked as an assistant at a fashion retail store and later interned at the Comme des Garçons showroom, where he developed his design skills and learned the Japanese brand’s avant-garde approach to fashion.

In 2009, Jacquemus launched his eponymous clothing line, Jacquemus, and presented his first collection at Paris Fashion Week. Despite his young age and lack of formal education in fashion, he received critical acclaim for his minimalist and contemporary designs. He became known for his use of oversized, asymmetric proportions and playful fabrics, such as burlap and terry cloth.

Jacquemus continued to gain attention in the fashion industry, and in 2015, he won the Special Jury Prize at the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. This recognition helped to launch his brand onto the international stage, and he quickly became a rising star in the fashion world.

In 2017, Jacquemus debuted his first runway show in Paris, which featured his Spring/Summer 2018 collection, entitled “La Bomba.” The collection was inspired by the designer’s childhood memories of summer vacations in the south of France and was characterized by bright colors, bold prints, and sensual silhouettes.

Jacquemus has also collaborated with other brands and designers, such as Swarovski, Petit Bateau, and Nike. In 2019, he partnered with the Spanish retailer, Zara, to create a limited-edition collection of clothes and accessories inspired by the South of France.

Throughout his career, Jacquemus has been celebrated for his unique vision and ability to create clothing that is both playful and sophisticated. He has won numerous awards and accolades, including the 2018 Fashion Award for Best Designer of the Year in France.
