Tom Ford is a renowned American fashion designer, film director, and entrepreneur born in Austin, Texas, on August 27, 1961. He graduated from New York’s Parsons School of Design, where he earned a degree in interior architecture in 1986. He began his fashion career as an assistant designer at fashion houses such as Chloe, Perry Ellis, and Gucci.
In 1990, Tom Ford was hired as the Women’s Ready-to-Wear Designer at Gucci. Within a year, he was promoted to Creative Director. He rejuvenated the Italian fashion house’s image by introducing a sleek, sexy aesthetic that attracted younger, trendier consumers. He launched Gucci into the forefront of luxury fashion with his designs, marketing, and branding strategies, taking it from a tired brand to one worth billions of dollars.
