After Ibiza and Israel in 2021, it is on the very chic Via del Corso in Rome that the ultra-luxury brand Six Senses (IHG group) will open its first hotel in Italy. More precisely on the small Piazza di San Marcello, in the Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini dating from the 18th century, whose UNESCO-listed facade has been restored to its original brilliance. A stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and the shopping streets, the 96-room and suite address is sure to attract fans of Six Senses spas with its three Roman baths and will benefit from a trattoria with open kitchen in the ground floor, gardens and a rooftop with a 360° view of the Eternal City.

Design star Patricia Urquiola (The Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona) signs the interior architecture of the luxury hotel by merging the heritage of the building and a contemporary spirit with the creation of common areas dressed in travertine, oak and bronze . The vast rooftop terrace, NOTOS, where you can sip a Bellini at sunset, will undoubtedly be the new must-see spot in the city to end the passeggiata in style.

6. The Homestead, South Africa

The Homestead is an ultra-luxury eco-lodge on the Nambiti Private Game Reserve, in the malaria-free KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa. Steeped in history and bristling with technology, this new safari lodge is hewn from local ironstone and the roof is planted with indigenous grasses, embedding The Homestead into the natural environment. The Homestead will get you closer to the big five, with the chance to spot over 50 protected mammal species and over 300 bird species.

The Homestead offers twelve suites, six of which are perfect for couples or solo adventurers. The other six suites can be connected together for families and larger groups and the entire property can be booked for events.

7. Hotel La Palma, Capri, Italy

Capri’s first hotel, built in 1822, is currently being transformed into an elegant and exclusive 50-room-and-suite hotel. Located mere steps from the famous Piazzetta, it will comprise a rooftop restaurant and bar, its own beach club, a newly built pool deck, a spa and a high-fashion boutique.

Hotel La Palma will be Oetker Collection’s reimagined incarnation of Capri’s original hotel that has long hosted a collective of notable artists, poets, writers and musicians from all over the world, and will once again be at the epicentre of the social scene on the island.

Oetker Collection’s first Italian property is set to bring to life the island’s iconic dolce vita lifestyle, scheduled to open for the 2023 season.

8. Nobu Roma, Italy

Expected to debut in Summer 2022, Nobu Hotel and Restaurant Roma is a collaboration between Carlo Acampora, Chairman and CEO Grand Hotel Via Veneto, and Nobu Hospitality which will lead the transformation of the luxurious Grand Hotel into a Nobu Hotel and Restaurant.

Located in the historic heart of Rome, on the exclusive and world-renowned Via Veneto and just a short walk from the stunning park of Villa Borghese, Piazza Barberini, Trevi Fountain, and Piazza di Spagna, Nobu Hotel Roma is the union of two 19th Century buildings combined to create a modern masterpiece that celebrates its grand, historic past. 9. Kempinski Floating Palace, Dubai, UAE

The AED600 million development comprises a central floating hotel with 156 keys. The hotel building is structured in four parts connected in the middle by a glass pyramid housing gourmet restaurants, bars, spas, pools, boutiques, banquet areas, and a yacht parking deck for 16 vessels.

On the roof of the hotel there are 12 luxury villas, and there are 12 eco-friendly glass boat houses surounding and connecting to the hotel. The villas are called Neptune and are powered by solar energy. They have self-sterilising air filtration systems and use automated technology to operate the entire house.

The Neptunes have two floors, a balcony, and a roof with an outdoor swimming pool. The ‘ground’ floor includes a kitchen, a living room and two additional rooms for maids, while the first floor consists of four ensuite bedrooms. Each floor measures 300sq m. The interiors will be created by Laila Aziz in collaboration with Aston Martin.
