What makes Arctic TreeHouse Hotel sustainable?
The ecological sustainability of materials and technologies is held in high regard at the Arctic TreeHouse Hotel. All the buildings are made from Finnish wood, which is a traditional, sustainable and renewable material. In order to avoid unnecessary logging and wearing out of the forest floor, the accommodation units were ready-built elsewhere and lifted onto the poles they stand on. The green roofs help manage the urban runoff and bring the building’s footprint’s worth of vegetation back to the construction site. The wood on the interior surfaces ensures a comfortable environment, healthy indoor air and pleasant acoustics.
What makes Naali Lodge sustainable?
All our waste is systematically collected during our walks in the wilderness and brought back to the lodge where it is sorted and recycled;
We have chosen reusable cups, plates, and utensils from the Finnish company Kupilka made from environmentally friendly Kareline natural fibers in order not to generate plastic tableware waste;
We do not include snowmobiling activities in our program because we consider this activity to be polluting, noisy, and not an efficient way to discover the surrounding nature. It is a strong choice when it is regularly requested by some thrill-seekers and potential clients. We limit the use of snowmobiles to logistical uses (trail preparation, collective transport by sled…);
We have increased the length of our stays from 4 days to 7 days.
What makes Arctic Land Adventure sustainable?
Sámi way of life and living in harmony with nature is at the heart of all our activities.

All our buildings are heated by geothermal energy from Lake Peerajärvi.
Each glass igloo also has a heat pump to increase living comfort.
In glass igloos, we guide customers to use water and heating in a sustainable way. In addition, each glass igloo has recycling bins for waste.
In residential buildings, the comfort temperature is 21 degrees.
We have used the raw materials from the surrounding area in landscaping.
