Tommy Hilfiger has recently announced a licensing deal with Italian brand Lardini for its premium Tailored line. This exciting partnership will involve Lardini designing, producing, and distributing Tailored suits, jackets, and trousers in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and APAC (Asia-Pacific) regions. The collaboration is set to begin in the Spring/Summer 2021 season, although the duration of the deal has not been specified.

The primary objective of this partnership is to drive sales of the Tommy Hilfiger brand and expand its global reach. By teaming up with Lardini, a renowned expert in men’s formal and sportswear, Tommy Hilfiger aims to further enhance its tailored product categories in Europe and Asia. Lardini’s extensive knowledge and history of research and innovation make it the perfect partner for this venture.

Lardini, established in 1978, manufactures its products at its production site in Filottrano, near Ancona, Marche. The brand boasts an impressive portfolio, having created pieces not only for its own menswear line but also for other prestigious fashion houses, including Etro, Salvatore Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry, and Trussardi.

Martijn Haglman, the recently appointed CEO of Tommy Hilfiger Global and PVH Europe, expressed his confidence in the collaboration with Lardini. He believes that this partnership will enable Tommy Hilfiger to further expand its tailored product categories in Europe and Asia. This venture marks a new chapter for Tommy Hilfiger’s formal menswear collection, which was first introduced to the European market in 1998 through a licensing agreement with Switzerland’s Holy Fashion Group. In 2011, the line was integrated into Tommy Hilfiger’s core business, focusing on classic chic menswear. However, in 2013, the creation of the Tommy Hilfiger Tailored division injected new life into the collection with modern fits, cuts, and products manufactured in Europe using primarily Italian fabrics.

Since 2017, Tommy Hilfiger’s Tailored line has been managed under license in the U.S. by American apparel manufacturer and menswear specialist Peerless Clothing. The recent partnership with Lardini means that Tommy Hilfiger’s formal offering is now exclusively entrusted to external companies in Europe and Asia.

All in all, this collaboration between Tommy Hilfiger and Lardini is a strategic move for both brands. Tommy Hilfiger aims to strengthen its position in the tailored menswear market by leveraging Lardini’s expertise and reputation, while Lardini gains the opportunity to expand its reach by working with a globally renowned brand. This partnership highlights the importance of strategic alliances in the fashion industry and demonstrates the growth potential for both companies in the EMEA and APAC regions.
