Zalando, the well-known European e-commerce company, has recently teamed up with Nike as part of the Nike Connected Partnership programme. This program, which was initially launched in the United States last year, aims to provide customers with exclusive Nike products and benefits. This partnership with Zalando comes after Nike’s successful collaboration with JD Sports for its debut in the United Kingdom.

What sets this deal apart is that Nike has chosen to partner with a non-sports specialist like Zalando, which further strengthens the German company’s existing relationship with the global sportswear giant.

Zalando believes that this partnership will bring together their expertise in customer experience and e-commerce, ultimately benefiting their combined customer base of over 49 million people across 25 different markets. By utilizing Nike’s top-notch range of footwear and apparel, the goal is to encourage consumers to incorporate sports and physical activity into their daily routines. In addition, Zalando states that Nike has been a significant partner in providing excitement and inspiration to their customers, and they are thrilled to take this partnership to the next level by offering exclusive benefits to customers shopping for Nike products on their platform.

David Schneider, co-CEO of Zalando, expressed his enthusiasm for this new partnership, stating that it reinforces their commitment to offering their customers innovative sport lifestyle footwear and apparel from Nike. Initially, the partnership will cover countries such as Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Italy, and Poland. Customers in these markets will soon have easy access to a wider selection of Nike products on Zalando’s platform.

The partnership is set to launch in all 10 markets where Nike operates with the Zalando partner programme. The official launch is expected to begin in October, starting with Austria.

Overall, this collaboration between Zalando and Nike signifies a strategic move by Nike to expand its reach beyond traditional sports retailers and tap into the vast customer base and e-commerce expertise of Zalando.
